100 Words – Hummingbird Thugs

Today there is a whole new set of hummingbirds. Just yesterday all the little birds were same little birds that we've seen for weeks. Now they are all different. The little fat one with the bright bright red head. The one with the white tips on its wings and down its chest. The tiny female who looks like she doesn't get enough to eat. Never saw these birds before but they've been here all day and none of the usual ones have appeared. Are the new cute little birds a band of hummingbird thugs? Have they done the others harm?

100 Words – Spiders and Pills

"Imagination is real. Physical manifestation is not a valid measure of existence." The nurse smiled. "Yes Charlie, but my reality is that I need you to take your pills. If you don't we'll have to sick the spiders on you again." Charlie weighed the options for a moment, then motioned to the nurse to give him the pills. He wasn't really afraid of the spiders, but the nurse was cute and maybe if he cooperated he could get a sponge bath out of her. Charlie wasn't allowed in the showers. Too many acoustic experiments gone horribly wrong. Doctors hate that.

100 words – Mostly Runs

The manure on his overalls was the least disgusting thing about Carl. The cows and pigs had the run of the junkyard and, as a whole, had much better hygiene than their master. Though what can you expect from a man who has lived among debris and livestock most of his adult life. Alexander noted that the tow truck driver stood mostly outside the office door, only leaning in to speak when absolutely necessary. Carl sat for a long time silently playing with his lips, apparently thinking. Then led Alexander to a rusty old Fiat that he claimed, "Mostly runs." Photo by tvdflickr
